(Bitcoin) Haters Gonna Hate

When I first became obsessed with Bitcoin, I told all my coworkers about it. I said they should buy it. I explained how it was superior, how it was the future. But one of my coworkers asked if I actually owned it.

I responded that I did not.

He laughed, saying something to the effect of, “You’re pushing something you don’t even own yourself.”

Months later, after buying some (tiny fractions of a) BTC, I told the coworker how great Bitcoin was, and I made sure he knew I owned some.

His response?

“It’s funny. The people who own Bitcoin say it’s good.” In other words, now that I owned it, I lacked credibility, because I was biased, with a conflict of interest, an obvious, ulterior, financial motive to get people to join me.

IN OTHER WORDS: When I didn’t own Bitcoin, I was laughed at for supporting an asset I didn’t own; when I did own Bitcoin, I was laughed at for supporting an asset I did own.

Haters gonna hate. No. Matter. What.
